Smith and Nephew supports Worldwide Stop Pressure Ulcer Day

Smith and Nephew has helped to raise awareness of pressure ulcers across the UK to mark Worldwide Stop Pressure Ulcer Day today (November 21st 2013).

As an official sponsor of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, Smith and Nephew has been taking part in various activities and events in hospitals and the community, all based around improving understanding of these painful injuries.

The company help to run events on behalf of tissue viability nurses and held lunch meetings with district nurses to help spot the early signs of pressure damage and identify patients at risk of developing pressure ulcers.

A special focus was given to the potential role of Smith and Nephew's product Aderma – a gel pad that can help redistribute pressure to protect critical areas – can play in achieving a high standard of wound care.
