SonoSite and United Medical Instruments agree distribution deal

24th June 2010

SonoSite has agreed a deal with United Medical Instruments which will give the latter company rights to distribute a range of SonoSite products.

The agreement allows United Medical Instruments to sell devices such as the M-Turbo and MicroMaxx ultrasound systems in certain small office markets, as well as allowing them to resell used SonoSite products from older ranges.

Mansoor Ghanavati, United Medical Instruments’ president and chief executive officer (CEO), expressed confidence that the partnership will be a “tremendous success”.

SonoSite explained that it has agreed the new deal in order to deliver better access to its products, as well as expanding its presence in the point-of-care ultrasound office segment.

Kevin Goodwin, president and CEO of SonoSite, said: “United Medical Instruments’ sales team has more than 30 years of experience in the diagnostic instrument industry and will be a valuable partner to complement our existing sales force.”

Earlier this month, SonoSite announced that it is to acquire Visualsonics, a manufacturer of high-frequency micro-ultrasound technology for the pre-clinical research market.
