SonoSite experiences improved quarterly revenue

28th April 2010

SonoSite has hailed its “encouraging” performance in the first quarter of 2010 after reporting year-on-year revenue improvements.

The ultrasound device specialist posted a quarterly revenue figure of $56 million (36.9 million pounds), an increase of eight per cent compared to the first quarter of 2009, while income and earnings before interest and taxes were also up.

Kevin Goodwin, SonoSite’s president and chief executive officer, said the quarter was marked by “encouraging signs”, as well as pointing to the finalisation of collaboration agreements with Carticept Medical and Physio-Control as key strategic steps.

He explained that this is “part of our long-term growth strategy to expand our footprint into the emerging segments of musculoskeletal medicine and emergency medical services”.

Mr Goodwin added that the company has now increased its forecasts for corporate revenue growth across the whole year, as well as predicting that its international business will see improvement in 2010.

Last month, SonoSite agreed a deal with UltraLinq Healthcare Solutions which will see SonoSite distribute and market the company’s web-based ultrasound image management and reporting service.
