SonoSite NanoMaxx system wins praise from Glasgow EMRS

18th January 2013

SonoSite has highlighted the recent positive testimony the Glasgow’s Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (EMRS) has provided for its NanoMaxx ultrasound system.

The hand-carried ultrasound device has been utilised by the EMRS for its helicopter retrieval service in applications such as central and venous line insertion, assessments of the pneumothorax and free abdominal fluid in trauma, and post-cardiac arrest echocardiograms.

During the flight test, NanoMaxx was shown to be a lightweight, easily portable and robust solution, allowing peripheral and central intravenous access to be achieved with greater ease.

The device was also used to assess fluid balance at the inferior vena cava, allowing more accurate determination of a patient's condition in a way that facilitates treatment planning.

Dr Laura McGregor, registrar for the EMRS, said: "We have used the NanoMaxx for a range of procedures … The system is very easy to use and well suited to our needs."

SonoSite began life in 1998 as a spin-off of ATL Ultrasound and has since become a leading medical technology provider, culminating in its acquisition by Fujifilm last year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801524651-ADNFCR
