SonoSite showcases X-Porte kiosk at RSNA 2013
SonoSite is demonstrating the benefits of its innovative ultrasound kiosk the X-Porte at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting this week.
The company is attending the event in Chicago to showcase the unique attributes of the high-resolution ultrasound kiosk, which has been designed to cure side-lobe imaging artifacts through a new type of technology never before used in an ultrasound system.
SonoSite's proprietary Extreme Definition Imagings is a new beam-forming algorithm that significantly reduces the visual clutter from side-lobes, which typically affect all ultrasound products regardless of system size.
As such, the resulting ultrasound image appears cleaner with optimal tissue differentiation. It combines this superior image quality with usability benefits, such as a multi-gesture touch screen.
Kevin Goodwin, president and chief executive officer of SonoSite, said: "The overarching goal was to create a high-resolution imaging kiosk that is also delightful to use. This design intent allows clinicians to efficiently use ultrasound anywhere in the hospital it is needed."
The device received European CE Mark approval in September 2013.
