Source BioScience launches Polar50 low-temperature storage system

11th February 2016

Source BioScience has held a special event to mark the launch of its groundbreaking new Polar50 walk-in storage chamber.

Polar50 is the world's first walk-in chamber operating at temperatures as low as minus 70 degrees C. Measuring 50 cubic metres, the chamber can be used to store biological, pharmaceutical and medical products at ultra-low temperatures.

Its performance is maintained using a purpose-designed dual refrigeration system, which provides 100 percent operating redundancy to ensure 24/7 compliance within a consistent and controlled environment.

The chamber has also been designed to allow easy installation into any existing stability suite, eliminating the need for multiple upright freezers. In this way, it offers significant savings in terms of power usage, floor space and costs.

Source BioScience commemorated the launch of this new flagship product with a special presentation at its facility in Rochdale, which was attended by famed explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

Dr Nick Ash, chief executive officer of Source BioScience, said: "Whilst the project has been extremely challenging, as a team we have delivered a unique engineering solution which will meet the needs of our customers looking to store products at ultra-low temperatures."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801812421-ADNFCR
