Source BioScience outlines cervical cancer charity support
Source BioScience has outlined the level of support it provides to the NHS to help maintain NHS cervical cancer screening services – including a desert charity trek.
One of the ways it is seeking to provide more support is by making donations to charities like the Michelle Henderson Cervical Cancer Trust, named after the daughter of former Glasgow Rangers footballer Willie Henderson, who died of the disease at the age of 28.
The cash was donated as sponsorship for a trek through the Indonesian Jungle to Mount Krakatoa, while this year will see three Source BioScience staff trekking across the Kalahari desert in Namibia.
The company provides BD Surepath screening technology, which offers automated imaging analysis designed to reduce the waiting time of results.
While Bioscience provided half of screening tests on the NHS in England and Wales during 2013, it has expressed concern at the fact that many women have not taken up the invitation to be screened.
