Speciality European Pharma appoints new chief executive

7th December 2010

Speciality European Pharma (SEP) has announced the appointment of Patrick Banks as chief executive.

Previously the firm's chief financial officer, Mr Banks will succeed the retiring Geoff McMillan at the helm of the specialist urology company.

He joined SEP in February 2007, having also worked at protein therapeutics firm Phairson Medical and chemogenomics business Inpharmatica during his career.

"Patrick has demonstrated his ability to lead SEP through its next period of development and we welcome him to this new role," commented chairman Jerry Benjamin.

Mr McMillan is set to remain on the company board and will assist senior management on future transactions.

He was thanked by Mr Benjamin for making a "significant contribution" to the development of SEP during his nearly five years in charge.

SEP was founded in 2006 and its lead product is Plenaxis (abarelix), a treatment for advanced and metastatic prostate cancer that is due for a pan-European rollout starting in 2011.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800275949-ADNFCR
