SSL International expects 20 per cent sales rise

17th April 2009

SSL International is expecting its annual trading results to show a 20 per cent rise in total sales.

The company, which owns brands such as Durex and Scholl, issued a statement ahead of its scheduled announcement data of May 19th.

It said total reported sales for the year ending March 31st 2009 should be around 640 million pounds, representing a six per cent rise on an underlying basis and taking into account foreign currency fluctuations.

“Strong growth” in all areas was seen during the period. SSL International highlighted the condom business and new Durex products as factors, together with the Scholl Footcare range and the roll-out of the Biomechanics products.

“As a consequence of this underlying sales growth, continuing cost control and the benefit from favourable currency rates, we continue to expect to announce reported operating profit growth,” added chief executive Garry Watts.

Last November, the firm announced its plans to purchase the Switzerland’s Crest condom brand.
