SSL packaging redesigned for a competitive market

26th February 2009

SSL has had a range of packaging for some of its products redesigned in order to make them stand out in a competitive sector, it has been reported.

Manchester-based company The Market was given the task of evaluating and redeveloping the boxes for the firm’s children medicines, explained Packaging News

Sue Benson, managing director of the design agency, told the website they had worked closely with a panel of mothers because “this is not just a product issued by a chemist – we also needed to observe them in the retail environment”.

The team took into consideration the fact that many parents are busy and distracted by their children when they go shopping, meaning it was important to make the product stand out when they were making their hasty choice.

Available on supermarket shelves from April, the new branding will be extended to the SSL’s marketing and adverting formats, Packaging News stated.

The box contained pictures of children in order to reflect the medicine’s “soothing or energised qualities”.

SSL looks after global brands such as Durex and Scholl.
