St Jude Medical receives CE Mark approval for Quadra Allure MP pacemaker

16th December 2014

St Jude Medical has announced that its innovative Quadra Allure MP quadripolar cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemaker has been granted European CE Mark approval.

It is the first device of its kind to be equipped with MultiPoint Pacing technology, which makes it possible to pace multiple locations on the left side of the heart, thus improving patient response to the treatment.

This capability allows clinicians to optimise cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacing based on patient need, reducing the rate of non-responders and the likelihood of costly and invasive lead revision through a second intervention procedure.

Additionally, the device is designed to work with the Quartet LV lead, which has four electrodes to offer maximum flexibility for different pacing configurations to help manage heart failure patients.

Dr Eric Fain, group president of St Jude Medical, said: "Building upon the industry's first quadripolar platform, the MultiPoint Pacing technology is an excellent example of our continued commitment to investing in innovative solutions that reduce healthcare costs and improve outcomes for patients."

Earlier this year, the company also received CE Mark approval for a new update to its Tendril STS and IsoFlex Optim pacing leads, allowing them to be used with MRI technology for the first time.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801766222-ADNFCR
