Steris announces “solid” operating performance

3rd August 2009

Steris is pleased with its “solid” operating performance during the first quarter of its 2010 financial year, its president and chief executive has said.

Walt Rosebrough made his comments as the firm posted its financial results for the three-month period ended June 30th 2009.

Operating profit increased by a total of 22 per cent to stand at $42.9 million (25.6 million pounds).

Mr Rosebrough said: “While our first quarter proved to be challenging from a top-line perspective, we are pleased with our solid operating performance.”

He noted that while capital equipment in the firm’s healthcare segment was affected by “challenging market dynamics” and the timing of shipments, the firm is “cautiously optimistic” about improving its year-over-year growth rates in the coming quarters.

Mr Rosebrough concluded by noting that the firm’s outlook for the full financial year remains unchanged.

In recent weeks, Steris announced plans to work with Siemens to offer optimised hybrid surgical suites.
