Steris launches new Pathogon UV Disinfection System

15th March 2013

Steris has announced the launch of the Pathogon UV Disinfection System, for use in minimising contamination risks present in healthcare facilities.

The automated mobile system uses germicidal ultraviolet light to reduce or kill pathogens on environmental surfaces, a technique that has proven reliable in delivering biocidal activity against a wide range of healthcare-associated pathogens.

Pathogon has been shown to kill organisms such as C. difficile, MRSA, VRE, Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae and others, offering automated cycle times ranging from four to 25 minutes.

The disinfection process produces no ozone or secondary contaminants, while rooms can be reoccupied immediately after treatment.

Jim Dacek, senior market development manager at Steris, said: "Microbial contamination of environmental surfaces can be an obstacle to safety, productivity and efficiency because it is a potential source of added illness, delay and cost."

Earlier this year, the company announced that it has agreed a deal with Sonitor Technologies to provide real-time location system innovations for use in its product range.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801557481-ADNFCR
