Straumann announces ‘innovative’ new product

5th December 2007

An expert in implant and restorative dentistry has developed a new product designed to reduce the risk of implant failure.

Straumann reports that most implant failures take place at an early stage in the implant placement procedure but that its new SLActive implants have been developed to reduce the risk.

It states that more than 90,000 of its new implants have sold and the failure rate has been just 0.6 per cent.

The implants are made from titanium and allow osseointegration to take place twice as quickly as conventional implant surfaces, Straumann reports.

It states: “This innovative surface treatment successfully reduces healing time to as little as four weeks, thus setting a new standard for tooth replacement and patient care”.

Earlier this year, Straumann launched its next generation Bone Level Implant which is currently being rolled out across Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.

The company described the new product as “one of the most significant milestones” in its history.
