Stryker appoints chief medical and scientific officer

8th January 2013

Stryker has announced the appointment of Dr Scott Bruder to the newly created position of vice-president and chief medical and scientific officer.

For the past five years, Dr Bruder has been employed as the chief science and technology officer of BD, while prior to this he spent eight years serving in a series of senior executive and scientific roles at Johnson and Johnson.

In his new position, he will be responsible for overseeing the clinical and scientific efforts of Stryker, including academic, industrial and governmental scientific partnerships, while also representing the company in official capacities.

Dr Bruder has a distinguished track record of performance, with nearly 150 published works and more than 20 issued and pending patents.

Kevin Lobo, president and chief executive officer at Stryker, said: "We are excited that Scott will be joining our executive leadership team and further broadening our clinical and scientific expertise while also strengthening our capabilities in the critical areas of evidence-based medicine."

This comes after the firm appointed David Floyd to the role of group president for orthopaedics in November 2012.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801518484-ADNFCR
