Stryker appoints neurotechnology and spine group head

6th May 2011

Stryker has announced the appointment of Kevin Lobo as group president of its newly formed neurotechnology and spine group.

Mr Lobo, a veteran employee of fellow medical device manufacturer Johnson and Johnson, has been hired as Stryker seeks to expand its presence in the neurosurgery sector following the acquisition of Boston Scientific's neurovascular division.

He spent almost a decade with Johnson and Johnson in various senior leadership roles, most recently acting as worldwide president of Ethicon Endo-Surgery.

Stephen MacMillan, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Stryker, said the organisation will benefit from Mr Lobo's proven abilities and record of delivering strong business results.

He said: "The creation of our new neurotechnology and spine group will enable us to bring stronger alignment to these exciting market segments and better serve the evolving needs of our surgeon customers."

Last month, the firm published its financial report for the first quarter of 2011, noting a 12 percent year-on-year increase in sales.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800522425-ADNFCR
