Stryker appoints new member of board of directors

Stryker has announced the appointment of Andrew Silvernail as the newest member of its board of directors this week.

Mr Silvernail is the chairman and chief executive officer of applied solutions company Idex Corporation, serving as chief executive since 2011 and chairman since last year. Prior to this, he held the position of vice-president and group executive within the same organisation.

Previous employers include Rexnord Industries, Newell Rubbermaid, Danaher Corporation and Fidelity Investments, underlining his status as an experienced business leader with knowledge of numerous sectors and markets.

Kevin Lobo, president and chief executive officer of Stryker, said: "Andy's leadership experience in health and science technologies and other diverse global industries will bring unique perspectives and valuable insights to our company."

This comes after the firm announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2013 last month, highlighting a 4.8 percent year-on-year increase in sales. It means Stryker is on track to meet its earnings targets for the year as a whole.
