Stryker completes purchase of BD’s vertebral compression fracture portfolio

22nd April 2016

Stryker has announced the completion of its acquisition of the CareFusion vertebral compression fracture portfolio of products from BD.

Originally purchased by BD as part of its takeover of CareFusion in March last year, the assets include a range of minimally-invasive systems used in vertebroplasty and vertebral augmentation procedures.

Stryker has bought the portfolio in an all-cash transaction as part of its strategy of expanding its vertebral compression fracture footprint, while also strengthening its brand in the neurotechnology space.

The acquisition is expected to expand the range of treatment options it can offer, while broadening its presence in key markets.

Timothy Scannell, group president for MedSurg and neurotechnology at Stryker, said: "The acquisition of BD's vertebral compression fracture portfolio is highly complementary to Stryker Instruments' Interventional Spine business."

This follows the completion of Stryker's acquisitions of Sage Products, Physio-Control International and the neuro portfolio of Synergetics USA earlier this month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801817107-ADNFCR
