Stryker expands board of directors

14th December 2010

Stryker has expanded its board of directors with the appointment of Allan Golston, a healthcare industry expert.

The medical technology manufacturer has increased the size of its board to ten in order to accommodate Mr Golston, who will take up his position as of January 1st 2011.

A director for cereal producer Malt-O-Meal, Mr Golston has served as the president of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's US programme since 2006 and has proven expertise and experience in the areas of finance and public accounts.

Stephen MacMillan, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Stryker, said: "Allan's experience as a hospital finance executive, combined with his Gates Foundation role, will bring new and unique perspectives and insights to our board."

Earlier this month, Stryker's board of directors approved the company's decision to sell off its OP-1 product family for orthopaedic bone applications to fellow medical firm Olympus.

This will allow Stryker to focus its research and development efforts on new strategic targets.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800290427-ADNFCR
