Synthes agrees new CMF distribution deal with Materialise

29th March 2011

Synthes has signed a new partnership agreement with medical prototyping and software company Materialise in the field of cranio-maxillofacial (CMF) surgery.

The deal will see Synthes distribute intra-operative guides and anatomical models developed by Materialise, which will be based on online collaboration tools and will facilitate the pre-operative planning process.

It will complement Synthes' existing offerings in the CMF surgery area, including medical devices and patient-specific implants.

Michel Orsinger, president and chief executive officer of Synthes, said the new products will allow surgeons to improve the accuracy of surgery, while also boosting the efficiency of operations.

"Materialise and Synthes share the same core values: a desire to assist the patient and surgeon, as well as quality, innovation, education and integrity," he said.

Last month, Synthes published its financial report for 2010, noting an 8.6 per cent year-on-year increase in global revenue, despite the negative impact of the overall economic slump.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800479365-ADNFCR
