Synthes reports positive progress in third quarter

26th October 2010

Synthes has expressed satisfaction with its financial performance in the third quarter of 2010 after seeing a year-on-year sales growth of five percent during the period.

The medical technology firm's sales takings for the three months came to $902.7 million (568.2 million pounds), with its trauma and craniomaxillofacial (CMF) implant range gaining global market share during this time.

According to Synthes, these two product areas outperformed the market in Europe in Q3 2010, thanks to the success of devices such as Variable Angle LCP, MatrixMIDFACE and the Trauma Recon System.

In addition, the firm successfully introduced the lumbar pedicle screw system Matrix Spine in the US and Europe in August 2010.

This strong performance builds on the ten percent year-on-year sales growth seen during the first half of the year and positions the company well in a "challenging" business environment.

Michel Orsinger, president and chief executive officer of Synthes, said: "We remain focused on developing and launching innovative new products across all divisions which will make a difference to patients and our surgeon customers."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800157711-ADNFCR
