Synthes sees improved financial performance in 2010

21st February 2011

Synthes has noted an improved financial performance throughout the past year.

The group, which specialises in the development, marketing and manufacturing of medical devices, has reported an increase in overall global revenue of some 8.6 per cent over the last 12 months, with the total figure now standing at $3.6 million (2.2 million pounds).

Synthes' sales were particularly healthy in Europe throughout 2010, with the company outperforming market growth rates by 11 per cent in nations such as France, Germany, Spain and Italy, despite a challenging year due to the global economic downturn.

Michel Orsinger, president and chief executive officer of Synthes, said: "We continued to generate strong financial results … We are committed to improving the performance in our spine business through new product launches and targeted sales efforts in 2011."

In November 2010, the company announced the acquisition of Anspach, a leading global company which specialises in providing high-speed surgical power tools.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800416406-ADNFCR
