20th March 2014

Takeda has announced the appointment of Giles Platford as the firm's new head of commercial operations for emerging markets.

Formerly the company's head of the Middle East, Turkey, Africa (META) region, Mr Platford will take up his new role from April 1st, reporting to chief operating officer Christophe Weber.

Mr Platford has also held the position of general manager of Takeda Brazil, spearheading the acquisition of Multilab, which caused the company to break into the top ten pharmaceutical groups in the country.

As part of his new role, Mr Platford will be responsible for overseeing the continued expansion of Takeda's operations in the META region.

In an interview with PMLiVE, the British executive – who previously spent eight years at Asia Pacific – said: "Takeda has one of the richest pipelines in the pharmaceutical industry today, and I am looking forward to further diversifying our offering of medicines to address the medical needs of patients across emerging markets."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801704955-ADNFCR
