Takeda appoints new general manager

21st May 2010

Takeda has announced a new position for Kiyohiko Tamura as the firm continues to roll out its plans to create “a new organisation”.

Mr Tamura will become vice president at the office of the president and chief executive, a new role that means he will effectively act as the company’s general manager from June 1st.

Earlier this month, the pharmaceutical research company revealed a 2010 to 2012 mid-range plan to transform itself into “a new Takeda”.

It set out a new management policy entitled the Vision, which identified three key themes crucial to the future prosperity of the firm – Innovation, Growth and Culture.

“These are the key concepts in the transformation that Takeda will engage in ensuring sustained growth in the medium to long-term,” the company announced.

For fiscal 2012, the firm is targeting operating income of 290 billion yen (£2.23 billion) and net sales of 1,330 billion yen.

Based in Japan, Takeda has a research centre in Cambridge and runs its European development, sales and marketing operations from its base in London.
