Takeda names new chief medical and scientific officer

19th December 2014

Takeda has announced the appointment of Dr Andrew Plump as its new corporate officer and chief medical and scientific officer designate.

Dr Plump will join the company on February 1st 2015, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and academia to the role. He most recently served as senior vice-president for research and translational medicine at Sanofi.

The current chief medical and scientific officer, Dr Tadataka Yamada, will be retiring from the role next February. Between now and then, he will continue to serve in the position while assisting with the transitional process.

He will then step down as a member of Takeda's board of directors next June.

Christophe Weber, president and chief operating officer at Takeda, said: "I am fully confident that Andy, with his deep experience in drug discovery and development and his past work in areas directly relevant to Takeda, will sustain and enhance our best-in-class research and development enterprise."

This comes after the company appointed Marc Princen as the new president of its European and Canadian business unit last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801766834-ADNFCR
