Takeda names new head of Shonan Health Innovation Park
Takeda has announced the appointment of Dr Toshio Fujimoto as general manager of its health innovation park in Shonan.
Dr Fujimoto will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all key park activities, including the development and execution of business and financial plans, coordination of site operations and services, recruitment functions, and marketing activities.
He joins the company from Eli Lilly Japan, where he has served as vice-president of medicine development since 2015. As such, he is able to boast considerable research and development experience and strong leadership credentials.
In this new role, he will be accountable to a newly formed management board comprised of Takeda executives Seigo Izumo, Salvatore Alesci and Haruhiko Hirate, who will provide counsel and support decision-making.
Andrew Plump, chief medical and scientific officer at Takeda, said this appointment marks "an important milestone that signals to both our current and prospective partners, our continued commitment to promote an open innovation ecosystem in Japan".
