Takeda to expand Republic of Ireland operations

30th March 2009

Takeda will expand its operations in the Republic of Ireland to cover the entire country.

Previously, the pharmaceutical company had limited its activities to one particular area but since January this year it has expanded promotions of the drug Actos.

The firm also announced it will commence its own sales and marketing operations in Spain, which the chief executive officer of the company Eric Brunn asserted he was “pleased with” as the Mediterranean country is one of the most important markets in Europe.

Increasing Takeda’s presence in the two locations will contribute to establishing Takeda as a “world-class company”, which is one of the firm’s goals, he added.

Mr Brunn commented: “We will actively introduce products from our portfolio into these two countries, so that they will help many more patients suffering from a variety of diseases.”

The firm already has its own sales and marketing operations in a number of countries across the continent, including wholly-owned subsidiaries in the UK, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Takeda, the largest pharmaceutical firm in Japan, markets its drugs in around 90 countries worldwide.
