Tecan launches new Smart Automation solutions

Tecan has announced the introduction of new Smart Automation solutions for liquid handling applications, based on the Freedom EVO 75 platform.

The new range includes a Pickolo fully-automated colony picking workstation offering varied selection criteria, agar types and picking techniques, as well as a vacuum-based nucleic acid extraction platform that provides flexible batch processing for up to 48 samples.

Also included in the new products is a magnetic bead-based nucleic acid separation workstation for use in individual or eight-sample strip processing for up to 96 samples.

All of the preconfigured systems are designed to eliminate time-consuming manual liquid handling tasks while being fast, simple and cost-effective. Other benefits include a dedicated user interface and easy-to-follow application guide.

The company said: "Each Smart Automation solution is supplied with optimised, ready-to-run protocols, and includes all of the modules and ancillary devices necessary to automate your manual processes."

During 2013, Tecan generated sales of 388.3 million Swiss francs (259.08 million pounds), representing a year-on-year increase of 0.1 percent.
