Tecan has announced that board members Rolf Classon and Gerard Vaillant will be leaving the company next year.
Mr Classon, who has been chairman of the board since 2009, will not stand for reelection at the firm's ordinary annual general meeting on April 17th 2018, with Mr Vaillant – a board member since 2004 – taking the same decision.
As such, Dr Lukas Braunschweiler and Dr Daniel Marshak have been proposed for election as new members of the board, with Dr Braunschweiler selected as Mr Classon's successor as chairman.
Dr Braunschweiler is the current chief executive officer of Sonova – a role he will vacate in March 2018 – and has been a Tecan board member since 2009. Dr Marshak, meanwhile, is the former chief scientific officer of PerkinElmer.
Mr Classon said: "Tecan is in solid shape and the foundations have been laid for many more years of strong development. Therefore, this is a good point in time to initiate a succession process for the board of directors."
Tecan has undergone significant growth in the last few years, launching several new major instrument platforms and enhancing its corporate governance standards.
