Tecan to supply DiaSorin with instruments for Murex production

18th January 2011

Tecan is to provide a number of clinical and diagnostic instruments to fellow life sciences company DiaSorin for use in the development of the Murex product line.

The company has signed an original equipment manufacturer agreement that will see DiaSorin supplied with an automated clinical Elisa platform, plus additional equipment such as the Infinite F50 absorbance reader and various plastic consumables.

DiaSorin will use these instruments to manufacture its Murex line of diagnostic tools, which are used in the analysis of HIV, HCV and HBV infections.

Tecan previously supplied these components to Murex's original manufacturer Abbott prior to the brand's acquisition by DiaSorin in June 2010.

This new arrangement covers all global territories other than the US, with initial deliveries set to take place ahead of Murex's commercial re-launch later this year.

Earlier this month, Tecan agreed a licensing deal with Enigma Diagnostics that will provide it with access to technology used in the automated molecular diagnostic system Enigma ML.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800349122-ADNFCR
