Teva achieved record-breaking results in 2008

18th February 2009

Teva has asserted that 2008 was a year of major strategic achievements and record-breaking results.

President and chief executive officer Shlomo Yanai made these comments after the firm revealed its highest ever annual and quarterly net sales of $11.1 billion and $2.8 billion ? an increase of 18 per cent and 11 per cent respectively.

He went onto explain the company’s success was due to its balanced business model and the ability to develop profitable growth.

One of the most exciting achievements of the past 12 months was the acquisition of Barr, Mr Yanai added.

He commented: “With the integration process well underway we believe we will realise even greater synergies from the combination than we initially anticipated.”

Last year, Teva also extended its leadership in the United States and achieved record sales of Copaxone ? now a leading therapy for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.

Over 80 per cent of the company’s sales are in Europe and North America. It develops, manufactures and markets generic and innovative human pharmaceuticals and animal health pharmaceutical products.
