Teva appoints new global generics boss
Teva has announced the appointment of Dipankar Bhattacharjee as president and chief executive officer of its global generic medicines business with immediate effect.
Mr Bhattacharjee has served as president and chief executive of Teva Generics Europe since April 2013 and has demonstrated a track record of improving revenues and profitability, having significantly increased the operating profit margins of the European business.
Under his leadership, Teva has become one of the leading generics companies in Europe, thanks to his focus on improving and enhancing operations, as well as his efforts to integrate the Actavis Generics business and the successful launch of several new products.
He has been appointed as the successor to Sigurdur Olafsson, who has stepped down from the role but will remain active with Teva until the end of the first quarter of 2017, in order to ensure a smooth transition. After this point, he will officially retire.
Erez Vigodman, Teva's president and chief executive officer, said: "I have been incredibly impressed by Dipankar's work in Europe, and I am confident that his capabilities, proven track record and experience make him the right person for this global leadership role."
