Teva UK launches generic version of Motens

4th April 2011

Teva UK has announced the launch of a new generic version of Motens, Boehringer Ingelheim's treatment for hypertension.

The company has exclusively released a non-branded version of the lacidipine film-coated tablets, which act as calcium-channel blockers, in 2mg and 4mg dosages that will be sold in packs of 28.

In doing so, it becomes the first company to bring a generic version of the treatment to the UK market.

According to Teva, the drug is being sold with the award-winning Teva 360 livery and is designed to be used either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.

Kim Innes, commercial director at Teva UK, said: "We are delighted to be bringing the first generic version of this product to the UK market and at the same time further broaden our portfolio."

Last month, Teva announced that it has formed a major new alliance in the over-the-counter products market with the multinational firm Procter and Gamble.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800486606-ADNFCR
