The Wrigley Company wins awards for education programme

26th October 2009

The Wrigley Company announced this week that it has been singled out as the winner of two accolades at the 2009 International Visual Communications Association (IVCA) Clarion Awards.

Best Live Event and Best Printed Materials in the Corporate Communications category both went to the firm for its Bin It! campaign, which is designed to raise awareness of litter among children and youths.

The Bin It! actor tour presentation, which the Wrigley Company has developed in partnership with specialist education consultancy Edcoms, has reached 30,000 pupils in over 250 secondary schools across the UK and Ireland.

“We believe that the issue of gum litter can only be tackled by engaging with young people at an early age and educating them about responsible behaviour,” commented Alexandra MacHutchon of Wrigleys’ corporate affairs department.

The Wrigley Company produces a number of dental gums, such as Juicy Fruit and Doublemint.

Since its establishment in Chicago in 1891, the firm has also manufactured items such as candy, mints and chocolate.
