Thermo Fisher Scientific agrees partnership with Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced a new collaboration with the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, an independent centre of excellence in the UK.
The collaboration aims to devise new solutions to address the challenges surrounding supply chain management for cell and gene therapy on a global basis, providing developers with the manufacturing capability and distribution, logistics, and storage capacity they require.
As part of this partnership, Fisher BioServices will expand its CryoHub solution by co-locating it with Catapult's new large-scale cell and gene therapy manufacturing centre in Stevenage, which is due for completion this summer.
In doing so, they will be able to centralise their manufacturing, storage, distribution and logistics services, resulting in a seamless supply chain.
CryoHub is a complete cryogenic storage, distribution and logistics solution consisting of configurable, modular components that are individually designed to meet the specific needs of a clinical trial, regardless of volume or geographic location.
David Meadows, vice-president and general manager of Fisher BioServices, said: "Combined with our existing capabilities in Asia and the US, this enables us to more easily support our customers' global trials as they develop and commercialise their therapies."
