Thermo Fisher Scientific announces solution for metal impurity analysis

21st January 2009

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced is has designed a "unique" solution for the efficient and fast analysis of impurities in solid metals.

Gold, steels, platinum group metals and other conductive materials can be analysed using a combination of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s iCAP 6500 Duo ICP emission spectrometer and a Separate Sampling and Excitation Accessory (SSEA).

The solution allows researchers to closely monitor each phase of the silver refinery process.

Using the iCAP 6000 Series "enables the sensitive, multi-element determination of impurities at ppb and sub-ppb levels in liquid phase matrices", a statement from the company explains, while the addition of the SSEA allows the analysis of solid phase metallic matrices with "minimal sample preparation".

Last week, Thermo Fisher Scientific released a new range of stackable shakers, which may interest people in science sales jobs. The MaxQ 8000 series has been designed for those working in laboratories which have minimal space but require large quantities of flasks to be shaken. ADNFCR-1050-ID-18983838-ADNFCR
