Thermo Fisher Scientific completes Finesse Solutions takeover

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the completion of its takeover of the life science company Finesse Solutions.

Based in California, Finesse Solutions is a leader in bioprocess management technology, including its proprietary Smart range of sensors, controllers and software, which are designed to optimise the bioproduction workflow.

The company has been a technology partner of Thermo Fisher Scientific since 2013 and will now be integrated into its life sciences solutions segment, helping it to expand its offering of scalable control automation systems and software for bioproduction.

Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "Finesse Solutions has developed a universal control system that will combine seamlessly with our existing single-use technologies to strengthen our position in the high-growth bioproduction market."

Dr Barbara Paldus, chief execuitve and co-founder of Finesse Solutions, added that the deal will allow her company to accelerate the development and commercialisation of the Smart technology range, taking advantage of Thermo Fisher Scientific's global reach.
