Thermo Fisher Scientific completes takeover of Phenom-World

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the completion of its takeover of the life science company Phenom-World for an undisclosed fee.

Phenom-World is a leading provider of desktop scanning electron microscopy solutions (SEMs), based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The firm is known for delivering best-in-class desktop SEMs, and imaging and analysis packages for research and industrial markets.

Following the completion of this deal, Phenom-World will be incorporated into Thermo Fisher Scientific's analytical instruments segment, where its leading desktop SEM platform will strengthen Thermo Fisher's leadership in electron microscopy.

The deal will also help to expands Thermo Fisher Scientific's range of entry-level and desktop SEMs offerings for customers working in the materials science, industrial manufacturing, life sciences and electronics industries.

This comes after the company last month completed the acquisition of certain continuous emission monitoring assets from Eptek Technology, which have also since been integrated into Thermo Fisher's analytical instruments division.
