Thermo Fisher Scientific demonstrates mass spectrometry advances

26th May 2010

Thermo Fisher Scientific is highlighting its latest innovations in the field of mass spectrometry at a forthcoming industry conference.

The science firm is attending the American Society for Mass Spectrometry annual conference this week to showcase new software solutions for life scientists conducting a variety of analytical tasks.

Among these is Thermo Scientific TSQ Quantum XLS, a system which allows a large number of samples to be analysed simultaneously, while the Metquest software suite makes it easier to identify and quantitate metabolites in a single experiment.

In addition, the firm will also introduce Pinpoint, a system for high-throughput, large-scale targeted protein quantitation, as well as a new version of Proteome Discoverer.

Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: “We are highlighting new instruments, sample handling and software systems that leverage our industry-leading mass spectrometry technologies to create powerful qualitative and quantitative solutions for our customers.”

Earlier this month, the company reported a record-breaking performance in the first quarter of 2010, driven by a double-digit year-on-year revenue growth.
