Thermo Fisher Scientific lab wins award

24th December 2008

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced its facility in Ohio has been named a winner in Industry Week magazine’s 2008 Best Plant contest, which celebrates facilities for manufacturing excellence.

According to a statement released by the company, the plant makes a variety of laboratory equipment, including cell culture incubators, ultra-low temperature freezers and other products used primarily for life sciences research.

Those involved in scientific sales jobs may be interested to hear that every employee at the plant is involved in activities to enhance productivity and efficiency – which are formalised in the company’s programme called Practical Process Improvement (PPI).

Marijn E Dekkers, chief executive and president of Thermo Fisher Scientific, comments: "Our global operations are focused on continuous improvement through PPI and this honor proves that the program is highly successful in empowering our employees to achieve operational excellence."

He added the company commits to taking the efforts of the plant and applying it as best practice to its sites across the globe.

The Marietta team will be honoured for its achievements in a ceremony in April 2009 and will be featured in the January 2009 issue of Industry Week.

Earlier this month, Thermo Fisher Scientific announced it has opened a new clinical services facility in Ahmedabad in India.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18946242-ADNFCR
