Thermo Fisher Scientific launches new general-purpose centrifuges

9th December 2013

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of a new and enhanced general-purpose centrifuge product line that offer greater capacity and flexibility.

The new range includes rotor innovations such as the Thermo Scientific TX-1000 rotor, the only rotor on the market that employs a four-litre capacity in a traditional three-litre footprint. Also available is the Thermo Scientific MicroClick 30×2 rotor, which provides a 30-place capacity for microtube and nucleic acid spin columns, making it ideal for molecular biology.

Designed to process more tubes in fewer runs, these new rotors help to save time while reducing energy and wear on the centrifuge. The devices are also compact and provide a minimal footprint, maximising critical lab space.

Maurizio Merli, global product director for centrifugation at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "Our latest rotor innovations address researchers' needs by allowing them to spin more samples in one run for increased production without surrendering space, performance or flexibility."

The company is soon set to expand its global reach and product range with the acquisition of Life Technologies, with the European Commission granting approval for the deal last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801670308-ADNFCR
