Thermo Fisher Scientific launches new Prelude SPLC system

15th February 2013

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of the Prelude SPLC sample preparation and liquid chromatography (LC) system, for use among clinical research and forensic toxicology laboratories.

The device is designed to facilitate mass spectrometry (MS)-based research and ensure that analysis of target compounds in complex biological matrices can be an efficient and routine process.

It enhances the cost-effectiveness of compatible LC-MS/MS instrumentation – such as the Thermo Scientific TSQ Vantage triple-stage quadrupole instrument – by automating sample preparation and increasing mass spectrometer throughput, while also minimising maintenance requirements and ensuring lab operating costs are kept to a minimum.

Ken Miller, Thermo Fisher's vice-president of marketing for its life science mass spectrometry business, said: "Our intent is to demonstrate how easy it now can be to perform LC-MS/MS bioanalysis on a routine basis."

This comes after the firm expanded its high content analysis portfolio for cell biology research earlier this month by unveiling the new Scientific ArrayScan XTI High Content Analysis Reader, CellInsight NXT High Content Screening Platform and X1 upgrade for current ArrayScan VTI customers.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801541622-ADNFCR
