Thermo Fisher Scientific launches new Raman analyser

11th November 2013

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of TruScan GP, a new handheld Raman analyser for use in the assessment of pharmaceutical products.

This cost-effective and portable new tool offers identification capabilities for pharmaceutical manufacturers in emerging markets and has been purpose-built to provide simple, point-and-shoot functionality.

Users can utilise the device to quickly identify raw materials and confirm the authenticity of finished products, allowing them to meet a wide variety of regulatory compliance needs within the chemical screening market.

Raman spectroscopy works by detecting frequencies of light highly specific to the molecular structure of different liquids and solids and is a preferred laser-based analytical technique for pharmaceutical quality control.

Bob Brush, business development manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said the device will "allow more users to accurately identify inconsistencies in materials right away, saving time and money down the line in the manufacturing process as well as in the field of counterfeit screening".

According to the company's most recent financial report, Thermo Fisher Scientific achieved record-breaking results in the third quarter of 2013, with sales rising by three percent year on year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801659401-ADNFCR
