Thermo Fisher Scientific launches new SureTect E. coli O157:H7 assay
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of a new test for detecting Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157:H7 in food.
The SureTect E. coli O157:H7 assay has been granted an NF Validation certificate by AFNOR Certification and has been shown to be compliant with the ISO 16654:2001 reference method when testing samples of seasoned and unseasoned raw beef.
Its AFNOR certification verifies that the testing method provides harmonised enrichment for both Salmonella species and E. coli O157:H7 using the same broth, offering cost benefits and workflow efficiencies.
David Panneton, vice-president for commercial operations for Thermo Fisher Scientific's microbiology business, said: "Our complete range of SureTect assays now has NF Validation certification by AFNOR Certification, and all assays have been granted performance Tested Method status by the AOAC Research Institute."
The SureTect system was designed to be able to detect microorganisms quickly and accurately in a broad range of foods and associated samples, providing rapid results, efficient operation, throughput flexibility and numerous convenience benefits.
