Thermo Fisher Scientific launches sequencing panels for inherited disease research
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of its new Ion AmpliSeq On-Demand next-generation sequencing assays.
These targeted sequencing panels for inherited disease research are designed to provide easy and practical design customisation capabilities, helping to lower the upfront costs associated with the process, regardless of the size of the project.
Custom-designed by users of the Ion AmpliSeq Designer tool from a repository of optimised gene targets, the panels are then ordered instantaneously in practical pack sizes that fit the specific needs of the experiment.
The Ion AmpliSeq Designer tool's disease-gene database allows gene selection based on disease research area and includes primer sets based on thousands of proven designs, meaning a wide range of different panels can be created.
Joydeep Goswami, president of clinical next-generation sequencing and oncology at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "By simplifying the way users can customise their content and pack delivery size, clinical researchers can focus on targets of interest that will drive greater discovery without the high upfront cost and risk of waste."
