Thermo Fisher Scientific sees strong demand for new Ion GeneStudio S5 system
Thermo Fisher Scientific has highlighted the significant success its Ion GeneStudio S5 System has experienced since its launch earlier this month.
The innovative benchtop next-generation sequencing instrument racked up more than 30 orders in the first week of its release, with early-access laboratories purchasing the devices for application areas ranging from cancer research to metagenomics.
Ion GeneStudio S5 systems offer end-to-end automation applications, including library prep, to deliver lower operational costs and minimal human errors, as well as the most flexibility of any benchtop system for next-generation sequencing on the market.
Users can easily scale their experiments by switching between the interchangeable Ion S5 chips to match the appropriate throughput requirements for their application of interest, rather than having to rely on another sequencer.
Joydeep Goswami, president of clinical next-generation sequencing and oncology for Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "It's exciting to hear that the systems' unmatched flexibility, speed and ability to maximise efficiency are striking a chord in the research and clinical research markets."
