UCB announces changes to UK site operations

18th November 2009

UCB plans to alter the operations carried out at its site in Slough, as well as at its Belgian base in Braine-l’Alleud.

The firm has revealed plans to position itself as a stronger firm for the future and therefore needs to optimise its transformation into a leading biopharmaceutical products supplier, it stated.

With this in mind, it will adapt its NewMedicines division at both sites and in Braine-l’Alleud it intends to streamline manufacturing support services, industrial development, as well as some of its administrative operations.

The ultimate goal for the company is to boost its biotechnological expertise and invest in new products while maintaining profitability.

Roch Doliveux, chief executive officer of the organisation, stated: “UCB’s ability to adapt is key to maintaining our competitiveness within the world of biopharma innovation. Our priority will be to look for solutions that lead to a new future.”

This news comes after UCB announced the recruitment of its new executive vice-president Ismail Kola earlier this month.
