UK Chancellor and Business Secretary Develop Silicon valley of 21st Century

20th December 2022

Following Brexit, the Chancellor and Business Secretary plan to utilize the newfound regulatory freedom to develop the Silicon Valleys of the twenty-first century. Together they have outlined a sequence of progressive development declarations in five high-growth industries throughout 2023.

Sir Patrick Vallance, National Technology Adviser, will examine current regulations and create a new strategy to enable the UK to realise its goal of being a science powerhouse and a global leader in high-value emerging industries.

The review’s objective is to make the UK the globe’s most well-regulated economy in terms of key growth areas, giving businesses and investors the security they require to promote innovation, investment, and development.

Sir Patrick Vallance has enlisted the assistance of five eminent specialists who will recognise any obstacles to innovation and help get the newest technology ready for sale.

The new Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA), which is led by Matt Clifford, and the AI Council, of which Priya Lakhani is a member, will make use of emerging digital technologies like AI.

The life sciences industry will be promoted by Sir John Bell, a member of the board of directors of Genomics England, and Camilla Fleetcroft, vice president of clinical and regulatory affairs at Eclevar UK.

Johnson Matthey’s Catalyst Technologies CEO Jane Toogood will advance efforts to develop green sectors and businesses.
