Unilever and HRH Prince of Wales present entrepreneurship award
Unilever has announced the presentation of its first ever HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize at a recent event.
Gamal Albinsaid, a talented young Indonesian businessman beat out six other finalists to claim the prize at the first Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Awards, thanks to his Garbage Clinical Insurance initiative.
HRH The Prince of Wales was present at the event to hand over the award to Mr Albinsaid, as well as Unilever's chief executive officer Paul Polman and Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, vice chancellor of the University of Cambridge.
The international awards programme is designed to inspire young people around the world to tackle environmental, social and health issues. The winner will receive a prize of 50,000 euros (41,500 pounds) in financial support, plus a package of individually tailored mentoring.
Mr Polman said: "We all need to use our energy and resourcefulness to support young entrepreneurs to reach scale, accelerate the development, inspire others and help create a brighter future for all."
Last month, the group announced its financial results for 2013, during which it achieved underlying sales growth of 4.3 percent.
