Unilever and Jacobs agree new efficiency alliance

24th May 2011

Unilever is allying with Jacobs Engineering Group on a new collaboration aimed at improving the efficiency of its global operations.

Under the terms of the worldwide alliance, Jacobs will be providing engineering services across its 250-site manufacturing network, while also helping to improve project delivery standards in terms of cost, speed and sustainability.

The alliance will be managed from Singapore and will allow Unilever to minimise expenditure, improve productivity and develop engineering designs that will reduce carbon and water wastage.

This will support the company's current growth agenda and will be of particular benefit to its emerging market operations.

Pier Luigi Sigismondi, Unilever's chief supply chain officer, said: "This is about reinforcing our technical management capabilities with one of the best engineering companies in the world."

Earlier this month, the company published its financial report for the first quarter of 2011, during which it experienced a year-on-year turnover increase of seven percent.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800555029-ADNFCR
